Spotting is not a part of periods. This condition can be due to hormonal imbalance, stress or too much exertion. Some medicines can also cause spotting as side effect. Your spotting can not be implantation bleeding because it lasted for 8 days. A slight drop in the hormonal level due to any reason can induce spotting not periods because hormonal levels are still above the bleeding threshold. In my opinion, you are not pregnant but have a pregnancy test for your own satisfaction.
