How Successful Was The Film 'Sin City' Based On Frank Miller's Comic?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Speaking in terms of sales and balance sheets the film did pretty well for itself. It does not come in the series of super hit films but it did make much more than its production budget. Around 40 million dollars were spent on the production and in world wide sales the film raked in a little less than 159 million dollars.

Critically the film was neither too much of a hit or a miss. With some critics giving it the thumbs up as something of a novelty and a trend setter of sorts in noir films; whereas others called it too violent and too extreme.

The film was directed by Robert Rodriguez who shared the directing credit with Frank Miller. There was some controversy regarding this sharing of credit at award ceremonies. Sequels of the Sin City series are also planned for the near future.
