Would A Cd Version Make Cents?

Would a cd version of the phone books make sense? In other words would it cost less and be better as a whole product on cd if it had the same ability for ease of use?

It would make alot of sense to me. I had one ten years ago or more of the whole US. Paid twenty or thirty bucks at the time and felt it a good deal. Whether the phone companies would go for it or not I don't think they would get the same bang for the buck as they do with the paper ones we're now stuck with.

I'm not sure I understand. Why would one need a cd when you can get white or yellow pages for any city, on the net.

a cd set up for local phone numbers usually new numbers are not in the regular phone books and a cd version could be updated without the paper, waste of time money and effort to deliver. and it could also have full blown ads describing to the customer all the companies business, directions on how to get to the store with a map. most telephone numbers on the net just give a address and a phone number a cd could be done cheaper and easier without having to maintain a webpage or paying for someone else to update it or maintain it. the phone company could have a service to help customers advertise for a minimal cost. keeping jobs while updating the system for every customer to use. who do you contact when the net does not provide you the number you are looking for if you can't find it on your own. you would call the operator/411 if the cd was set up by the makers of the yellow and white pages it would probably have all the information for every number you are looking for.
