You can't without being the persons friend. So, if there is someone you want to be friends with who has a private profile, send them a message and a friend request.

Dear Heather... unless you are a friend of the person, you cannot view private profiles.  You must send a friend request to the person and have your request accepted/approved to view private profiles.

You either need the password, his, or be invited to the private area, neither of which he is going to do so just let it go and move on, anyone that would cheat would do anything to you, they are lower than dirt. If you had the capability to hack into the system they would just arrest you anyway and trying to figure out his password could be hard or easy depending on how well you know him, but I would leave and quick!

YOu are all idiots. It's not hacking, it's just bypassing a slight bit of HTML or Java that limits what is shown on the page. The answer can be found in the page source if you know what you are looking for. It is not illegal, there is no legality attached to circumventing little bits of this and that that are readily available in the page source. Get a clue before you answer in such a manner.
