Why Does A Person Become Diabetic?

Diabetes is a disease where the body is unable to control the concentration of the blood glucose level with a safe range. As a result, the amount of glucose in the blood exceeds the re-absorption capacity of the kidneys.  The glucose that is not reabsorbed is excreted in the urine.

This condition is categorized in two types.

The type 1 diabetes is called juvenile of early onset diabetes. It develops early in a person's life. It is due to the lack of ability of the pancreas to produce adequate insulin for the body.

The type 2 diabetes occurs later in the life of a person. Due to this reason, it is also called the late onset diabetes. Usually overweight people are more susceptible to it. It results from the fall in the production of insulin by the pancreas or the failure of the target cells to respond to it.

A persistently high glucose level in the blood and urine, after a meal, is a sure sign that a person is suffering from diabetes.

Diabetics have to regularly measure the level of glucose in their blood and urine. It is also important for them to carefully watch what they eat. It is important for them to ensure that they do not intake too much carbohydrate.
