What Is Anthrax Infection?

    Anthrax infection is caused by the bacterium called Bacillus anthracis. In general, this bacterium is found in cattle, sheep, goats, camels, antelopes, and other plant eating animals. In the last century, primarily farmers and sheepherders got affected by this bacterium as they used to be in close contact with the infected animals. But in recent times, whole world is under threat of this infection as this bacterium is used to spread throughout the population all over the world as a result of bio-terrorism. In bio-terrorism, anthrax bacterium has a widely accepted significance as weapon because the bacterium can create a structure called spore which is deadly enough to grow within a skin if entered. Moreover the inhalation of the spores can cause the lung dysfunction which eventually leads to death. For the vaccination purpose, an initial course of three injections are given in sequence of 6, 12 and 18 month interval.
