    Oh, contrare my furry friend...but indeed they do.  I currently live in Missouri and have swarms of 40+ on most days and yes I have seen them hover still in the air then scoot backwards as if to get a running start AND YES I HAVE ALSO SEEN THM DIVEBOMBING OTHER HUMMERS VIA AN UPSIDE DOWN POSITION.♥
