Is There Any Other Thing In The World Except The Great Wall Of China That Can Be Seen From Space?

It is a misconception that the Great Wall of China is the only man-made structure that can be seen from the space. To set the record straight, no structure on earth is visible without the help of binoculars or high powered lens.

In earth's orbit at the height of about 320km, many man made structures could be seen by different astronauts. Structures like highways, dams, rail roads, ships in sea and large vehicles could be seen with the naked eye. The countryside is distinct from the cities as is the green forest distinct from the mountains. Astronauts have taken several photographs of the tall structures of Manhattan and Pyramids of Egypt with normal digital cameras.

Astronaut Ed Lu had once said that many objects were visible from space with help of binoculars including the Great Wall of China, but that it was less visible than many other objects and that one should also know where to look.

After leaving the earth's orbit and moving higher and higher up in space, astronauts found it very difficult to locate and differentiate anything with naked eye. From the moon, for instance the earth looks like a beautiful sphere with white, blue, yellow and green patches.
