How Is United Kingdom's Energy Produced?

    United Kingdom's total energy production has surpassed its consumption considerably.
    It ranks seventh in terms of energy production in the world whereas it ranks ninth in terms of energy consumption in the world.

    Oil reserves of about 4-4.5 billion barrels are available in North Sea. It produces one of the finest qualities of oil, and most of its production is exported. At present, United Kingdom ranks thirteenth in terms of crude oil producer in the European Union.

    Natural gas reserves located at North Sea contains about 20-30 trillion cubic feet. It has been observed that there has been a decline due to its large scale consumption. United Kingdom ranks fourth in the world in terms of its natural gas production.

    Coal reserves of about 240 million short tons are located in England and Southern Wales. There has been a decline in coal production, due to privatization of coal industry.
    UK ranks twentieth in terms of production in the world. It accounts for 1.3% of total consumption of coal in the world.
