What Are Hidden Calories?

    When one is on a diet and exercising regularly one expects to lose weight on a regular basis though more often than not the case is contrary and one does not lose any weight but ends up gaining a few pounds.

    The culprit in this case would be hidden calories; hidden calories are those that are found in foods which one supposes contains less amounts or those that come from foods that are outside the diet.

    Different types of beverages from colas, coffee and alcohol to health drinks and sweetened fruit juices, all are prime sources of hidden calories. The myth that calories are found in large amounts only in solid foods is widespread as liquids like colas and beer contain substantial amounts of calories.

    Another source of hidden calories is munching snacks between meals. One should also be careful about the size of servings as well as the number of helpings that one is accustomed to during meal times. Toppings and dressings are another unnoticed source of hidden calories like butter and cheese spread, various sauces and mayonnaise
