    A pitch is an act of throwing the ball to the batter in baseball. A ball can be pitched underhand as well as overhand. Overhand pitching was prohibited till 1884. Players who pitch the ball are known as pitchers. There are many ways of pitching the ball. It can vary according to velocity, movement, arm angle and trajectory. These kinds of pitches are thrown to confuse the batter and eventually the batter gets out.

    The fastball is the most famous pitch in baseball. The ball is thrown at the batter very fast. Other famous pitch includes the curveball. The curveball enables the pitcher to spin the ball in mid-air, hence confusing the batter. Other baseball pitches are slider, knuckleball, changeup and many more. A pitching machine is used by batters to practice their batting with various styles of pitching.
