Should Gay Marriage Be Allowed In America?

Answer Question

7 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Yes, it definitely should be. Marriage is taken for granted by the "straight" world, but the LGBT community is denied this basic right. The fact that it is not legal is based in religion. I am not saying that every church in America should allow it. By goodness, they are their own institutions, and are allowed to make up their own rules (within the law.) However, our national laws should not be made based on religious values.

Sexual orientation is a very private issue, but the church decided it was bad,but the church use to burn SUSPECTED witch's be cause they were bad. Who a person marries should be thier own affair its not my place to judge what is an isn't acceptable. We live in a free country,I've never read a sign that said you're free unless you're gay.

I highly agree with all of the above. People always cry out about the "sanctity of marriage" and while this isn't by any means my argument, it's a poignant one. Some half of marriages in this country end in divorce. Of the remaining half, just how many are actually in wholesome, good loving marriages? With the broken homes, substance abuse, infidelity and so on, and can these people argue for the case of the "sanctity of marriage?" Are we really corrupting it so much by infusing it with more people who will love each other? (And lets be fair, more of the other kind too)

I agree. That's why America is the Land of the Free but it seems to not live up to its name. People can love the same sex just like the opposite sex. It makes no sense to limit someones relationship status just because a certain "party" or "religion" is against it.
