    If any money is received after the date od death you must return it, if it comes one day after death as they know he or she was not the signer therefore you must return it and if not you will have to pay the money back, or do jail time......the best to you

    I think they can keep the check that comes in the month that their spouse dies. I remember my aunt, who took care of my grandmother until she died, asking about that... And she could keep the check for that month, since she was the sole caregiver and my grandmother lived with her. Might not be that way for all states though.

    Mati you are so right but in my state they want you not to touch that check and this happen to a my cousin that was caregiver for her brother and he died one day prior to the check and most of the time most of the checks come with information concerning that issue and it says return it especially social security, you know they are screaming about money any way,but I would return it if the person dies the day after the check arrived than yes it is usable...oh well
