What Does Ozark Mean?

Ozark is a city located in the Dale County of Alabama, US. As per the census reports of 2000, the population of the city is 15,119. The city is also known as the county seat of Dale.

The city is a shopping centre for timber and nuts. Ozark is also famous for the manufacturing of aircrafts, railcars, farm machinery, fertilizer, clothing, wood products etc. The census reports further state that there are 6126 households in the Ozark city. The racial distribution of the city is such that about 68 percent of the populace comprises of the Whites, followed by 28 percent as Afro-Americans or Blacks, and the rest is distributed among other races including Asians, Native Americans, and Pacific Islanders etc.

The median income of an average household is $29,330. The per capita income for Ozark is $15,984. The statistics also reveal that 19 percent of the population is below the poverty line.
