I believe that is up to opinion but I can tell you the top 5 actors after colour TVwould have to be robert de niro jack nicholson al pacino anthony hopkins and marlon brando ( that's what I think but I think others would agree)

This is commenting on my own answer, i'm sorry i left out an actor who definitely deserves a mention i just forgot him at the time and that is michael caine who along with jack nicholson is the only actor ( besides jack) to be nominated for academy awards every decade starting from the 60's
Sorry again i was just clearing up, the actors that i said are only the best actors in drama and action and horror not comedy (although some of them are great at comedy) i was only talking about actors who do serious movies if i included comdy i would have to say dustin hoffman although he is a serious acor he is one of the best at comedy and so is robin williams jim carrey adam sandler and mike myers
