Who Was Black Hawk?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Black Hawk was a Native American hero and belonged to the nations of Sauk and Fox of whom he was the leader.  He hated the idea of giving away the land that belonged to the Native Americans to these despicable European people who had forcefully usurped their land.  It was in the year 1804 that Black Hawk waged a war against the Americans to fight for his people and gain back the land that belonged to his nation exclusively.

This happened only after his Sauk nation was tricked by William Henry Harrison, who blurred their senses with the spirit of whiskey and during that semi-conscious state, he made them sign a treaty that was particularly in the favor of the United States and was against the Native Americans.  According to the treaty, the United States had bought the Native American land of Sauk for a paltry sum of 3000 dollars.  That was the main reason why Black Hawk decided to wage a fight against the deceitful Americans.
