Is H2O An Ionic Bonding? Why?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

H2O is the chemical formula for water. Water is not an ionic compound but it is a covalent compound. Covalent bond is present within water molecule. One atom of oxygen and two atoms of hydrogen are present in a molecule of water. Two single covalent bonds are present between oxygen and hydrogen atoms. Hydrogen and oxygen atoms share an electron pair to become stable or to make a bond. Moreover, due to electronegativity difference, oxygen gets partial negative charge and hydrogen gets partial positive charge.
