The original was built with wood. There was a common area on the main floor with boxed seating on the various upper levels with the Royalty boxes an either side of the stage.

 By hand. LOL. It was a timber frame construction that was round or possibly octagonal with a thrust stage at it's center and multiple levels. The current recreation has three including the ground level (or so I believe). Much of the construction during this time did not use nails, so it may have been of dovetail or joint and peg construction, which I don't know.
