Which Is Heavier A Pound Or A Kilogram?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

This is really bad! You used Pound and Kilogram in the same sentence! Isac Newton would have a stroke if he were still alive!

This is bad because "Pound" is a unit of force and Kilogram is a unit of mass. Mass and force are not the same.

But to answer your question: A Kilogram is bigger in the context of your question.

It depends on the gravitational field you are in. A kilogram is a measure of mass. A pound is a measure of force. The amount of force depends on gravity acting on the mass of interest.

In a standard Earth gravity field, one pound force is exerted by .45359237 kg of mass. 1 kg would exert more force. On Earth's moon, one kg would exert less force than one pound.
