Can A Human Being Notice A Difference In The Cry Of Human Babies Of Different Races?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

It's highly doubtful whether there has been any scientific research into this question. And even if there has been, it will have been well and truly discredited by now.

The human ear can distinguish the cry of an individual baby from that of others. Ask any parent and they will confirm they know which of their kids has fallen over and hurt themselves just from their cry alone. Much in the same way that a dog owner knows his dog's bark.

Whether anyone can distinguish races from merely listening to a baby's cry is, most reasonable people would agree, impossible. Pink, black, brown or yellow, they all sound the same when they've a dirty nappy or wanting fed.
