I Have A 1987 Chevy 5.7 Tbi,trouble Code Of 42, How Do I Fix It?
It is telling me that the electronic spark control may be at fault or a bipass fault what are these and how do I fix them? I replaced the hei unit already,fuel pump,and tank, the filter is 3mos.old. The vehicle will barely idle and I have no cold idle anymore...

You must replace the esc module if i remember correctly it is a flat biscuit looking piece with a long connector on it when you pull the connector off it will look like 7 or 8 silver fingers. also around my way that piece is a dealer only item so maybe you can find one in a junk yard. I myself have used modules from 88-89-90-91 in 87. hopefully this helps you.
