Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Under Section 504 of the Federal Fair Housing Amendment Act, which was enacted in the year 1988 and revised in the month of January 1994, the group of people who are not covered are those individuals who are alcoholic or those individuals who abuse drugs.

It does not cover those individuals whose current quantity of alcohol consumption or abuse of drugs prevents him or her from participating in the program or the activity in question, or an individual whose participation would constitute a direct threat to the property or safety of other individuals by reason of their current quantity of alcohol consumption or abuse of drugs.

The Federal Fair Housing Act prohibits the discrimination of people on such bases as their race, colour, religion, sex, national origin, familial status or disability (if any). Landlords, real estate companies, banks and other entities can be sued in a court of law if they discriminate a person on the basis of his or her race, colour, religion, sex, national origin, familial status or disability (if any).
