When you handle new born puppies make sure not to take them unless the mother dog is there. If she notices one missing this could upset her. Be gentle when ever you handle them but avoid handling the puppies at all until they are 7 to 10 days old. This is when their eyes will open and you can start getting them used to human contact so they will be social to people.
