Try asking round construction site, if they need any laborers. This is the hard but thorough way to learn construction. Laborer's get paid so you might call it O.J.T. You will need to sharpen your listening skills or you will get your feelings hurt. Never stand around doing nothing, there is always work to be done on a site, and they won't keep you if you do that. Good luck, I have know some who turned out to be a-1 construction workers this way.

Look in your local phone book, yellow pages under construction. You might also look under landscaping. Make a list of these places and start going and filling out applications. Where it says "What position are you applying for?" put "Any". You might call the places first and ask if they're accepting applications.
If you have no prior work experience, be sure and list several adults names, phone numbers and addresses as references, so they'll have someone they can call that will say good things about you! (Be sure and let those people know they might be getting a phone call about you from a perspective employer!) Think friends of your family, and teachers that liked you at school.
You'll probably find a low position job to start with, but it will get your foot in the door and help you decide if this is what you want to do long term.
Also check out your county's Highway Department. Sometimes they hire young part time people for summer positions. It's a government job and if you can get your foot in the door there, it could turn into a really good job with good pay and benefits!
Keep trying, fill out apps three days a week and you'll find a job within a month.
