How Long Is The Amazon River?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

The length of the river Amazon is 6,516 kilometers and that makes it stand second only to the river Nile. But Amazon is the most voluminous river on earth, and if we combine the next six rivers, they cannot even match Amazon in total flow, which is why the river is also called The River Sea.

Amazon River meets the sea in Brazil, it is also called Amazon Basin. The Amazon Basin is the largest in any river system. If we consider the area of that Basin as an independent nation, we will have to rank it at the seventh, twice as big as the actual second rank holder that is India. The river releases enormous quantity of water in the Atlantic Ocean and in the rainy season it can go up to 300,000 cubic meters per second.
