How Do I Join The Cast On Edge To The Live Stitches?

I am knitting a purse with a top rolled edge. I purled 8 rows, turned purl side out and join the cast on edge to the live stitches by knit together one picked up stitch with one stitch front he circular needle. How do I do this? Thank you. New Knitter

With a simply e-wrap cast-on ... You pick up between the columns of the cast-on.

If the work faces so it curls toward you, go through between the first two columns, into the first stitch on the full needle and then knit them together (yarn scoops through both loops)
    *OR*
If the work faces so it curls aways from you, go through between the first two columns, into the first stitch on the full needle as to purl and then purl them together (yarn scoops through both loops.

    Repeat around.

Then read through the directions to see where you really are and whether you'll need to invert the work so far (flip it inside out and knit/purl in the opposite direction) to make it match what it should be.

I really hope you've found an answer somewhere before this.
