How Do You Hit A Baseball?

If you are a right-handed person, you have to place your left hand near the knob at the end of the bat and your right hand above that. If you are a left hander, do the opposite. Next, place the arc of the bat in the middle of your fingers (your palm) and hold the bat firmly. Wearing gloves can avoid your fingers from being bruised. This will ensure you a better grip of the bat.

Stand in the batter's box. Different places near the mound give you an advantage of batting from different types of pitches. For instance, if you stand toward the rear of the batter's box, you have more time in your hands to respond to a fast ball.  

Make sure your stance and poise is relaxed and effective. You may experiment with different foot angles and position till you find the best one that suits you. Slightly bend your knees, increase the space between your legs to maintain the balance, generally more than a shoulder width apart.  Hold the bat close to the top of the strike area, with your hands at about the height of your armpits. You may keep your arms a little bit away from your body but not extended.  

You have to bend your knees and step in the direction of the pitch as the ball exits the pitcher's hand. Keep your head and upper torso stable, eyes focused on the ball, as you tread toward the ball with your lower body. Maintain a swing level and stay behind the ball, moving into the pitch. Complete the swing by moving forward and budging your weight from your back foot to the front foot. You should brace your front legs as your back foot turns.  Try to seethe bat hit the ball, keeping your head steady and chin tucked in. It is important to follow through, swinging the bat wholly around your upper torso. Do not stop the swing till the bat hits the ball.
