How Long Does It Take For A Baby Parakeet To Grow?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

When it is first born, a baby parakeet has a very smooth cere, and a black eye, which are combined with black stripes on its forehead, which gives this cute bird its charm. When the baby is about six months old, these stripes on the forehead can change to a white or a yellow colour, and the eye colour too changes to more white than black.
At an average, a parakeet grows quickly, and in most cases, a parakeet is ready to mate and produce his or her own offspring by the time she or he is nine months old. In certain documented cases, parakeets have mated and produced nests at the age of five months too. A parakeet therefore takes about five to nine months to grow up and become an adult .
All parakeets live to about a grand old age of five years, and very rarely do they live to seven years.
