Who Created God?

Answer Question

As a youth minister, I get this question a lot. Our universe consists of three things: space, time and matter. That begs to ask the question, if something exists outside of our universe, is it bound by those three principles? In order for something to be created, you need four things: a creator (obviously), time (to mold it), space (to put it somewhere), and of course matter (with what raw materials is your creation going to be made out of?). Anything that exists outside of the universe is not bound by those principles. Think about it, if God had a creator, and his creator had a creator, that just keeps going and going, an infinite line of creators. In order to understand the concept of God, you have to think outside of the box. Psalm 90:2 says that God existed before all things, he is eternal. Because time only exists within the confines of the universe, it does not apply to God.

I always feel uncomfortable when people give answers to questions as profound as this by quoting things as fact when they really have no idea whether they are true or not. A religious belief is a personal thing it should never be put forward as fact. You are merely putting forward a theory which may or may not be true.

No one. God was never created, He was just always there. He has lived for an eternity, meaning His role as God has never begun and will never end. It's like infinite, it goes both ways forever with no beginning and no end. He has just always existed.
