Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Luton Town Football Club was founded in 1885 as an amalgamation of two footballing sides, Luton Wanderers and Luton Excelsior.

The united side was accepted into the Second Division of the Football League in 1887. Due to financial difficulties and the fact that many other clubs in the league were in the north of England, which was inconvenient for travel, the club had to resign from the League in 1900 to join the Southern League, which would become Division Three after the First World War.

The club's major success is winning the League Cup in 1988.

The nickname of Luton Town Football Club is 'the Hatters' as the town has historical links with the hat-making industry.

The club has played at their home ground of Kenilworth Road Stadium since 1905. It has a capacity for just over 10,000 people.
Luton Town Football Club currently reside in the Championship division and they finished in 9th place in the 2005/06 season.
