What Is Your Opinion On This?

I overheard someone talking about Obama today, saying the Republicans will start using Obama's Muslim background against him, playing it up with the anniversary of 9/11 coming up. I am not a supporter of his, but it sounds like a convenient excuse to sling mud to me. What are your thoughts?

I agree with you Marty. Sounds like a mud slinging plan if ever I heard one, and what about separation of church and state? These elections get uglier and nastier as time goes by.

I do not believe in the separation of church and state. This country was founded upon God, and it seems the people of today have forgotten about Him. We are not to be forced into a religion, but we must bring GOd back to the US before she is destroyed.

You're right on Marty. That's why our constitution doesn't have anything about separation of church and state except that the government can't pick a particular religion and make you follow that religion. Most of our founding fathers were strong believers in Jesus Christ!

I agree as well that it is mud slinging too.  I actually bought into the "Muslim" talk about Obama until I researched it myself.  He definitely has some Muslim influence in his background, but was never a practicing Muslim.  I am a republican myself but will vote for a person according to their performance and position on important issues.  Although there is no such thing in the constitution as separation of church and state as it is perceived today, I still believe that politicians should only highlight their own qualities and not put others down.

Well this has been awhile since this one was written so we know a little more than we did.  I do not feel that Obama is a Muslim even tho he has had it in his background.  We all change as we grow older and we can make a big difference in our lives.  Personally I think he will make a good president but we can't expect a drastic change all at once who ever gets the Presidency.  God Bless America

Yeah, it is definitely mud slinging. I mean just 'cause he is Muslim or whatever doesn't mean that he's a terrorist!!! That's like saying that every American is a big fat lazy pig that is rich and hates Iraq! I'm an American and I'm not a big fat lazy pig, my family is the opposite of rich, and i don't hate iraqis! That called stereo typing!!!!! And i believe that, that is very wrong, and it is defiantly mud slinging! Just 'cause he's so called Muslim doesn't mean he's a terrorist! I think he would do great things for this country! That's what i believe!

Where did the notion come from that obama is a muslim? What does that mean his religion or his heritage, as muslim is a religion I thought I could be wrong will someone explain, because people are shot down if they do good and shot down if they do bad, humans make life a no win situation, that is why it is best that we all live and let live.....

We as adults know the difference between mud slinging and the truth, why would we want to hurt one another physically or mentally?

Definitely some stool slinging going on with the muslim and terrorist accusations. Very dirty politics. It would be like people calling me jewish just because as a kid my dad converted to judaism and i had to go to friday night and saturday services and go to hebrew school. What religion i had as a child has no bearing on what religion i am now ;)
