    Moulin Rouge is situated in France in the district of Pigalle on the Boulevard de Clichy which is in the 18th arrondisement.  It is near Paris specifically near Montmatre. It was built by the owner of Paris Olympia Joseph Oller in 1889. It is a cabaret and Moulin rouge means red windmill in French.

    It is located in a red light district. The building is famous for the big imitation windmill that is built on its roof. The Moulin rouge gets hundreds of visitors a year and has maintained its status as a popular tourist spot. Its interior design and its unusual name have often been copied by nightclubs in other parts of the world. Pierre La Mure also wrote a book entitled Moulin Rouge. There are two movies with the same name one made in 1952 and the other in 2001.
