Pantoprazole ( protonix) has not been studied in pregnant women. However, studies in animals have shown that pantoprazole causes problems. Before taking this medicine, make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or if you may become pregnant. Never take any kind of pills without talking to your ob/gyn. It is always best not to take any pills when you are pregnant, unless your doctor ok's them, to prevent birth defects.
