The term "Catholic" usually refers to those who accept Jesus to be God incarnate, recognize the bishop of Rome as the Vicar of Christ, and accept the teachings which are held by the Catholic Church as revealed by God to be true.  The term, "Christian," on the other hand, is far more difficult to define, varying greatly from "believer" to "believer."  Most of those who call themselves "Christian" would profess Christ to be divine and have some attachment to sacred scripture, but that varies by degrees.

Catholics believe more in the old testament than the new testament. I see me being a Christian as a relationship with God not a religion.

Wrong, Catholics consider themselves in Saint Peter's Church who is the Apostle Simon Peter. The Old Testament is used a great deal as a reference and it's lessons are widely taught, but it is the New Testament's Gospel of Jeasus Christ and subsequent books, especially the writing of Paul, that is the foundation of the Caltholic Church.

Judaism is based in the Old Testament, but they have their own version of these books known as the Torah.
