I Rent And Have Mold All Over My Bathroom Tiles But Landlord Won't Listen. Who Do I Contact For Help?

I am a renter and have lived at the same property for 8 years. There is no exhaust in my bathroom only a wood window located in the shower stall. I clean mold off the tiles weekly since moving in. I really feel this is hazardous. My landlords do nothing about it. Who should i contact?

Are you in the US?  If you are contact the HUD office nearest you to discuss your landlord's obligations and your rights as a tenant.  Here is a website so you can locate the office nearest you.  The site also has much information about renter's rights for your state.

If you live in Canada, the first step you must take is to notify the landlord of the issue in writing (keep a copy for yourself).  Pending notification, if the landlord still will not comply to correct the issue, then contact your local Public Health service and ask that an inspector be sent out to your home.  If the public health inspector deems there is a problem with mold, they will then issue an order to your landlord to rectify the situation within a certain time frame, or consequently be subjected to a court ordered fine for non-compliance.  In the meantime, call the Landlord and Tenant Board and file a formal complaint  to have your rent reduced until the issue is resolved.  Hope this helps!!
