Hello,
If you are forming a company you'll need to go to your State Comptroller's office to obtain a tax ID. If you will be selling anything as an individual you can use your Social Security number and remit the taxes to your comptroller on a quarterly basis. I use to sell Home Interiors and this is how I did it.
