What Did William Shakespeare Change His Theatre To And Why?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

In 1598, the theatre that Shakespeare's company, The Queen's Men, were using, was situated on land owned by one Giles Allen. The theatre was called "The Theatre". Allen wanted to develop the land, and wanted the acting company out! Things got very heavy until, after Allen went on a Christamas break, all the actors and their associates pulled down the Theatre and moved the lot, lock, stock and barrel, down Bishopsgate, down Gracechurch Street, over London Bridge to Bankside where, 18 months later, there arose a brand new theatre, called the Globe!
