What Can I Expect To Pay For Gym Membership?

What's included in the gym membership costs...

Gym membership varies from gym to gym. Most gyms are eager to get you on board and thus will have a lot of offers to tempt you over the gym down the road. Make advantage of these offers but read the small print as you may get tied into a contract which is longer than you expect. A rough figure for monthly cost is around £30. Shop around to see what deals you can get.

As a member of the gym depending on what you're signed up for you will get varying access to the services on offer. For instance basic membership may just include the fitness centre and not the swimming pool. Thus another thing to watch out for if you're a keen swimmer.

The best time to sign up for a gym is after Christmas. This is because gyms target the people that have become festively plump during the festive period.

There's some new gym concepts out there where there is no contract and it is a small fee once a month. Fitness 19 is one and there are several more like that. They are basic gyms, all the equipment you could ever need, large but no showers nor pool which keeps the cost down. They do provide a nursery for an extra fee if you have children and your membership price is locked in even if they raise their fees. I have been going there and really like it. People of all ages go there so it is not aimed at any one age group in particular. Hope this helps.
