When Was The Defender Heritage Models Launched?

A Defender V8 50 special edition was launched in 1998 to coincide with Land Rover's Golden Anniversary. This model was a sell out success, so strong in fact that Land Rover launched the Defender Heritage the following year, 1999.

Just 300  Defender Heritage models were ever built, making them now a much sought after vehicle.

Based on the 90 and 110 Station Wagon models with a Td5 diesel under the bonnet, the Defender Heritage was available in just two traditional Land Rover colours, Bronze Green and the light pastel, Atlantic Green.

The Defender Heritage is easily identified by its unique exterior features, namely, retro-look mesh grille, silver powdered coated bumpers, side steps and hinges, body coloured door mirrors and headlamp surrounds. There's also a unique cast alloy Land Rover plaque on the rear.

The interior was fitted with Lincoln Green leather trim, aluminium gear know and ivory coloured dash dials.

Also included in the package was anti-lock brakes, four wheel electronic traction control and air conditioning.
