Can A Complete Blood Image 20 Days After Possible HIV Exposure Show Theres Something Wrong?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Complete blood count test does not tell any thing about HIV infection. HIV is detected in blood after development of antibodies. Time period between exposure to HIV infection and development of HIV antibodies is called window period. This window period can be of 6 to 12 months and rarely 6 months. If you are suspecting HIV then go for proper HIV screening not for CBC.

Yes, but development of antibodies is fallowed by rising od WBC leukocytes and changes in wbc formula. So if there's something going on wbc leukocites will be abnormal, right?
