In What Year Did Australian International Harry Kewell Sign For Liverpool Football Club?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Australian footballer Harry Kewell signed for Liverpool football club in the summer on two thousand and three from Yorkshire club Leeds United.

Liverpool beat of stiff competition from Manchester United and a host of Italian clubs to secure the services of Kewell, who was signed for the club by former manager Gerrard Houllier for a fee believed to be in the region of five million pounds.

To date Kewell's time at Liverpool has been a mixture of disappointing performances and injuries.

His most significant achievement in a red shirt has been the capture of the UEFA champions league in two thousand and five, although Kewell was withdrawn mid way through the first half due to injury.

Curiously, with Liverpool and Kewell winning the champions league, Kewell became only the second Australian to collect a winners medal, the first was Craig Johnston who also won the European cup whilst wearing the red of Liverpool.
