First, you need to ask your vet, but since you have said you have tried "everything"..Bath your dog once a week with a flea/tick shampoo that your vet recommends. Remember to allow the shampoo to sit on your dog for at least 3 minutes before rinsing. When rinsing, rinse twice. Use a product, (once again as allowed by your vet), like Advantage. Read directions and use it properly. You also need to treat your home, the dogs outside and inside environment. His bedding, other dogs he may be in contact with, etc. If you are only treating the dog and not his/her environment, the flea's will continue to infest your dog because the source of the infestation is not being treated. Remember to be diligent and address every area your dog lives around/in! Otherwise, they will never go away!
Good luck with these awful parasites!

Been there!!!  Plus we have 7.5 acres that the dogs run on that isn't treatable because of livestock.  I've tried Advantage, Frontline (Plus, too), shampoos, dips, etc., etc.

Here's how I finally got a handle on things...  If you have carpet, treat it with 20-Mule Team Borax and work into the carpet.  You can also sprinkle this between couch cushions, etc.  Always be sure to do a color test first.  You may have to vacuum daily until you get a handle on the infestation and then once a week (or more often if you prefer.)

If you don't have a problem using an insecticide, I used one from Walmart (can't remember the name, it's in a green jug with a sprayer and costs around $4.00).  I haven't needed it for several months.

But, before you start treatment, get some Capstar tablets from your vet (or vet supply store online).  Capstar is a "kill pill" for fleas, starts working within 30 minutes of dosage.   This pill isn't harmful to dogs and can be used daily (which I don't.)  I bathe the dogs (I use regular shampoo or an oatmeal shampoo) and give them a Capstar a day or two before applying the topical flea treatment.  I am now using Advantage Plus (this stuff is awesome!)  In addition to fleas, it also is a heartworm preventative medication, plus it's cheaper than having to buy both heartworm meds and flea treatment and only one date to remember.  The only thing is, your dog must have a negative heartworm test before using Advantage Plus. (These are available at low-cost clinics, mobile clinics, vet.)

I have been using this Advantage Plus for about six months now and every time I do a "belly check", I do not see any fleas!  I bathe the dogs at least once a month (a day or two before treatment) and if they've been around other dogs or visiting, I may give them a Capstar, too.

Our dogs are in and out constantly (doggie door, fenced property) and I am telling everyone I can about this Advantage Plus.  I found out about it at the vet's office.

Good luck to you - there is a flea-free world out there.

Add a tiny little bit of minced garlic to poochies moist dog food once daily for one week. After that cut back to once a week. Fleas do not like the taste.

When my second dog was rescued she had fleas. Basically we gave her a flea bath, applied advantage (from the vet) and doused the house every inch of it with a flea/mite spray from Adams. We used the spray room by room after a heavy vacuum session. The Adams spray worked wonders, they do tell you it needs about 6-8 hours before re-entry or contact with the treated areas so I did this room by room. Luckily we have been pest free since then. (this was about 2.5 years ago)
