I know everyone whats to do good things for their body, but really colon cleaning isn't necessary. Our colon does take care of itself to a degree. There is a mechanism, which probably has a name, but I do not recall at this time what it is called. There are contractions that naturally occur starting at one end of the colon and occur all along the colon. It is a method to clean and remove debris. I think it occurs every 24 hours. Colon cleaning using various products can just set up some people for electrolyte imbalances. Have you ever lost fluids during a hot day, by exercising, or from being ill? Sometimes, we feel funny/ill not only because we have lost fluid, but also because of an electrolyte imbalance. So, why would we possibly want to create this in our body. Some colon cleansing products contain ingredients that the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) doesn't even feel are safe, but since some colon cleaning products are sold more as herbal or homeopathic remedies the product can still be out on the market and shelves for people to buy. Specifically, I am referring to products with cascara. Do a internet search on the FDA and cascara for yourself and you will see exactly what I am referring to. Cascara can even cause darkened spots inside your colon. Is this harmful? I am unsure, but it does occur. Anyway, if we want to take good care of our colons, do it by increasing fiber slowly into our diet. This means plenty of fruits and vegetables. This means whole wheat pasta and whole wheat bread. Don't be fooled by labels either that say whole wheat bread. Some whole wheat breads are very overprocessed and are not much better than eating white bread. You need to read the food labels and if you pick up whole wheat bread of good quality, you will notice it even feels heavier. We need around 30 grams of fiber a day (depends on age and gender) and plently of water. This is a great way to clean the colon.
