How Contagious Is Viral Meningitis?

    Meningitis is the inflammation of meninges. This can be due to bacteria, virus, fungi and non infectious agents. Viral meningitis is caused by viruses like HSV2 which cause cold sores, chicken pox and HIV. Viral meningitis is contagious and can be transferred from affected person to healthy one but it is not necessary that every infected person get meningitis. Infected person can have cold, rash or low grade fever but very few infected people develop viral meningitis. No treatment is recommended for viral meningitis but supportive therapies can be given.
