The Kennet and Avon Canal was built between 1794 and 1810. It links Bristol and London. This canal is 237 feet high, by means of 29 locks. 16 locks are in a straight line at Caen Hill on the Kennet and Avon Canal. However, in 1857 the Great Western Railway was built, due to which the canal fell into disuse. However, in later years it was restored for leisure purposes, and today it is a famous heritage tourism destination, and is has a number of activities like boating, canoeing, fishing, walking and cycling. It also holds significance for wildlife conservation.

The Kennet and Avon Canal, is situated in Southern England. The canal is approximately
57 miles (92 km) in length, but with the Kenneth navigator and the Avon Navigator it totals up to 87 miles (140 km).
