My Son Is Leaving School Next Year ~ Where Can He Find Out About An Apprenticeship?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Within the framework of the Modern Apprenticeship Framework, there are currently two types of apprenticeship offered.  The Apprenticeship is available to students with GCSE's in the A-D profile and the Advanced Apprenticeship is open to students with GCSE's in the A-C profile.  Apprenticeships are offered to employed learners, which means that Apprentices will be at work for usually four days per week and then at college for one day.  This means that not only does the apprentice have to find an employer, they also have to find a college course.

Local colleges will have advice about the apprenticeships on offer and will also be able to advise on local employers who they feel are receptive to taking on apprentices, which can help ease the process of tying job and course together.

The type of apprenticeships available has changed over the last few years, with Customer Services, Accounting and Food Preparation& Cooking being very popular options.
