Can You Tell Me About Macbeth?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

He was a real person, a Scottish chieftain from the far North of the country, who lived around 1000-1057 AD. He did kill Duncan and usurp his crown (although in open battle, not murder), and he did rule for some 14 years, by all accounts fairly and well, and promoted Christianity. He was killed at the battle of Lumphanan in 1057 by Malcolm Canmore, the son of Duncan, who became King Malcolm III. Macduff was an invention of Shakespeare.
