With my computer (vista excel 2007) I enter the data in the excel column or row and then select INSERT and all types of graph and chart examples come up and I just select one such as pie chart. The ?help button at top right will help also.

In an Excel spreadsheet, type the data you want to be included in the chart, placing titles and numbers in separate columns. Once data is entered onto the sheet, click on the Chart Wizard icon on your toolbar. (this icon looks like a series of colored bars). The Wizard will guide you step by step through the process.

You are the same as the one before said but highlight the data you want before you go to "insert< Chart< pie", good luck.
