How Do You Take Pictures Of Lighting?

I (don't have a camcorder) but I have a Canon camera. I would really like to figure out how to get good shots of lighting. Any tips? I know timing seems to be the biggest issue... And I'm not sure about the camera settings...

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by lighting. I'm assuming that you want to take an evening setting picture of the city or something like that. If that is what you are trying to do, you need a tripod, so that the camera is steady. Then you have to set the shutter speed to a very slow setting. This allows any and all light to make an impression on the film. It will take a clear picture of anything that is not moving, however, lights that are moving such as cars, will look like a long streak of light. This is how the night time city scapes are done. I hope I was able to help some.

Hey, thanks! That's actually helpful (I meant to say "lightning". My fault... lol) But that is also new information. Thanks!
