Are Seeds Generally A High Fibre Food?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Seeds are sources of fibre. Even though certain foods such as legumes, fruits like apples and bananas, oats, rye and barley, vegetables such as carrots and whole grains are richer sources of fibre, the other advantages of seeds such as presence of beneficial oils, minerals such as zinc, magnesium, iron, copper, phosphorus, certain vitamins such as vitamin E, A and B complex group and Omega 3 acids offsets the lesser benefit of fibre that they comparatively provide.

Coriander seeds contain 1.40 gm of fibre per 2 tsp and are the fourth best source for fibre.

Flaxseed contain 5.41 gm of fibre per 2 tbs is a very good source of fibre.
Mustard seeds contain 1.08 gm of fibre per 2 tsp are a good source of fibre.
Sesame seed contain 4.24 gm of fibre per quarter cup and are a good source of fibre.
